Arterial pressure responses to discontinuing antihypertensive drugs.

چکیده
rose promptly and treatment was restarted within a month. Among essential hypertensive patients, those who remained off treatment for 2 to 6 months had significantly lower pretreatment pressure than those whose hypertension returned in less than 2 months. The two whose diastolic hypertension seemed "cured" had no distinguishing features. These results suggest that most hypertensive patients require continuous treatment for good pressure control; downward resetting of pressure by treatment is rare.

Return of elevated blood pressure after withdrawal of antihypertensive drugs.
The rate at which arterial pressure rises after discontinuing active treatment was investigated in a group of 86 hypertensive patients who received treatment with hydrochlorothiazide, reserpine and hydralazine for two years or longer and whose diastolic pressures averaged below 96 mm Hg for the last year of treatment. Sixty patients were assigned double-blind to placebos and 26 were continued o...
متن کاملAntagonism of antihypertensive drug therapy by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
Certain nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs antagonize the action of antihypertensive therapy. Indomethacin has been shown to abrogate the antihypertensive effect of beta-adrenergic receptor blockers, diuretics, converting enzyme inhibitors, and several antihypertensive drug combinations, and the accumulated evidence on piroxicam indicates that it also raises arterial pressure in treated patie...
متن کاملAntihypertensive effects of some new nitroxyalkyl 1,4-dihydropyridine derivatives in rat model of two-kidney, one-clip hypertension
Dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers consist one of the widely-used groups of drugs for the management of hypertension. In this study, antihypertensive effects of 5 newly synthesized derivatives of DHP was examined the in rat model of two-kidney, one-clip renal hypertension. The results showed that those compounds containing two nitroxy groups had less decreasing effect on MAP (Men Arterial...

متن کاملEvaluation of vascular effects of aqueous Crocus sativus petals’ extract in the hypertensive rats
Background and Aim: Crocus sativus (C. sativus) petals attenuates smooth muscle tension and blood pressure in control animals. However the antihypertensive effect and its mechanisms haven’t been recognized. This study investigates the antihypertensive effects of C. sativus petals’ aqueous extract in hypertensive rats and also responses of the rat isolated perfused mesenteric bed. Materials and...
